Mums and Babies
In health, our bodies express vitality in abundance: the outward sign of our body's tendency toward health. We look well, and feel energetic. In this state, women's and babies' bodies, designed for the transition of their bodies through pregnancy and delivery, adapt well and everything progresses normally.
But often we are not in the tip-top state we would like to be. Tiredness, poor diet, lack of exercise, and other factors beyond our control, can push our ability to adapt too far, and the body appears to let us down. A difficult pregnancy, or a non-progressive labour, a colicky or restless baby, might result in this scenario.
A physical imprint of these insults can be held in the structures of our bodies, and can limit our ability to be healthy. An Osteopath's job is to detect these imprints and by subtle manipulation release the tension - to enhance your body's natural tendency toward health and repair.
Pregnancy and becoming a mum changes everything and presents us with many opportunites for joy and learning. But there are physical challenges too. If you experience persistent discomfort as the result of an unresolved or previous injury or suffer repetitive strain of looking after the new arrival, contact us for some advice.
Likewise, babies and children can also display symptoms of discomfort as a result of the stresses sustained during pregnancy and/or childbirth. We are able to use very gentle methods to alleviate tension in their bodies too. The earlier we can see your baby, the easier it is to treat them, as problems have had less time to 'embed' - so bring your baby for a checkup as soon as you can after birth.
