Benefits for mums (in pregnancy and everyday)
Osteopaths are able to safely treat expectant mothers for a variety of symptoms including back ache, digestive problems, hip pain and symphysis pubis disorder (SPD). We can treat you at any stage in your pregnancy. Some women may choose to avoid any intervention or treatment within their first trimester, but sometimes it is better to treat discomfort early than allow it to persist unnecessarily.
When our lives are busy we can easily ignore those tell-tale signs of strain. It is particularly important that new mums, or mums with other children to look after, seek help as soon as a problem develops to stop the situation worsening. See Why do I need it?>>

Benefits for children
Children challenge their little bodies all the time. Gentle Osteopathic treatment can be helpful after a minor fall, problems with digestion, and 'growing pains' etc.
It is important to state that pain in children is not normal. Sometimes pain can be a sign of emotional distress, but it should not be ignored.
We would advise plenty of exercise for your children; even the odd tumble won't cause them trouble - in fact it is helpful for developing bones. More serious bumps and falls, especially of the head, should be checked for medical trauma by the doctor or the hospital. If a problem persists, we can probably help.
Children often carry overloaded school bags which give rise to back pain. Osteopathy's founder said 'As the twig is bent, so the tree inclines' - it is best to avoid heavy bags by promoting the use of school lockers.
We are happy to offer free seminars to parents and children's groups on the subject of childrens' physical health.

Benefits for adolescents
Growing children can develop problems which can be helped with treatment (see benefits for children).
The complications brought about by hormonal surges of teenage years produce their own particular issues. Back pain is as common in adolescents as it is in adults. See more about problems in adolescents>>
